A little about Jassy
Jassy Husk is an international, award-winning lyric coloratura soprano based in Singapore and performing worldwide.
Born in Tasmania, she is now based in Singapore and has lived for periods in the UK, Africa and Germany. Her international career has focused mainly on opera performances in Asia, the UK, Australia, China.
Jassy has received graduate and postgraduate vocal diplomas at the Royal College of Music in London. This was followed by studies as one of only a handful of singers selected for the Wales International Academy of Voice with Dennis O’Neill, CBE, where she received Distinction.
She has studied under some of the leading conductors, coaches, and performers, including Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Richard Bonynge, Gerald Martin Moore, Richard Miller and David Gowland.
She has trained as an Opera Works Young Artist on English National Opera’s Opera Works programme and was selected to cover the role of Telaire in ENO’s Oliver Award-winning production of Rameau’s Castor and Pollux at the London Coliseum. She has since worked with ENO in several other productions.
Jassy has sung the lead role in as Fiordiligi in Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte, as Semele in two separate productions, as Pamina in Mozart’s Magic Flute conducted by Myer Fredman, Micaela in Carmen, as Violetta and Annina in two productions of La traviata, as Blondchen in The Abduction from Seraglio, as Drusilla in Monteverdi’s Coronation of Poppea with OperaUpClose, and as Serpina in La Serva Padrona. She has sung in several Early Music Baroque lead roles including L'Allegro, il Penseroso ed il Moderato and Leçons de ténèbres.
She has also covered Catherine Glover (Fair Maid), and covered in Isaure and Fleurette (Bluebeard) with Buxton Festival Opera, Zerlina (Don Giovanni) with English Touring Opera and Clonter Opera, performed with British Youth Opera and Garsington Opera.
Other notable engagements include solos in Handel’s Messiah and in the Mozart Requiem, performing at Sadler’s Wells with Independent Opera in Maconchy’s The Sofa and featuring on its debut recording. Jassy also sung on the recording of Macbeth with Ed Gardner, OBE. She premiered The Bushranger’s Lover in Australia and has performed several times in China for a gala concert tour across ten cities.
Jassy has competed in a host of internationally-acclaimed competitions, winning many awards. Highlights include performing at the Sydney Opera House in the final of the McDonald’s Operatic Aria, and in the NYIOP International Opera Auditions in Berlin. Jassy has won awards for English Opera and Song, Lieder, and the DJ Mazda Operatic Aria award three years running.
